First Popcorn Friday, October 11th!
Watch DOGS is a program devoted to providing opportunities for dads to be involved within Sierra Heights through volunteering in the school and hosting events such as the awesome Ice Cream Social during Art Fair in the spring. With the help of the Watch DOGS coordinator, volunteers are scheduled at times convenient to the volunteer to plan for a strong presence of dads throughout the school year.
While volunteering at Sierra Heights, Watch DOGS will participate is various aspects of daily life for our students. Generally paired with their student's class for at least a portion of the day, Watch DOGS may volunteer in the classroom, during PE, at recess, assisting staff with pick-up / drop-off procedures. Depending on the day and volunteers, they may spend their day following one class or visiting several classes.
Watch DOGS do not have to be able to stay all day when volunteering! A lunch hour, an hour or two in the morning or afternoon, every bit of time promotes a stronger bond with your child, increases the presence of dads at our school, and creates excitement for the kids! Besides, let's face it, DADS ARE THE COOL ONES!
Communicate with the Watch DOGS coordinator to let your interest and availability in participating be known so they can get you on the schedule of volunteers during the year. As with all volunteers working with students in the school, a Washington State Patrol Background Check form must be submitted to the office every 2 years. A copy of the WSP Background Check form is located at the bottom of this page.
